Seed swap at Totnes Climate Hub

Transition Town Totnes is proud to support a range of projects that are taking positive action to help tackle local issues within our community. Our aim is to help people and planet be more resilient in the face of climate change and we believe that together, we can all make a difference.

As spring unfurls, there’s a sense of awakening within all our active projects, especially so for Incredible Edible, our community growing initiative that has sprung into action recently by spending January and February pruning our fruit trees. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out. Here’s hoping for a blooming marvellous blossom season and a bountiful crop in autumn.

Following the success of last year’s event, we have another Seed Swap taking place on March 2nd at The Mansion on Fore Street, Totnes, outside Totnes Climate Hub between 11am and 2pm. Bring along any surplus seeds you might have gathered from last year’s harvest and swap them for seeds that you don’t have in stock.

We’ll also be planting seeds in our edible gardens this month, as well as tending to the early spring edible flower beds. We grow fruit, herbs, nuts, vegetables, and edible flowers in public and unused spaces across Totnes for everyone to share. As you walk around Totnes, you’ll see little areas where there is food growing and you’re encouraged to pick it for free. These can be found at locations in Bridgetown, Follaton, Steamer Quay, Fern Bank and Borough Park. Check out the events page for more details.

We're a team of enthusiastic volunteers who've been busy planting and maintaining these growing sites for over 15 years. Many hands make light work, so please email paul@transitiontowntotnes.org.uk if you’d like to join us. Plus, the more we grow the more we can eat and share with our community.
