Local initiatives which inspire us:
Ambios - a project integrating training and conservation, on their 80-acre organic farm by the Dart. Partners include ROC, a local organisation supporting adults with learning disabilities.
ATMOS project - a project to revitalise the derelict Dairy Crest site adjacent to Totnes station, providing affordable housing, a renewable energy centre, workspaces, community facilities and more.
Beyond Borders Totnes - created to enable communication between local people interested to offer a variety of one-off, sustained, ambitious or low-key local initiatives in support of asylum seekers and refugees in the south of Devon.
Bob the Bus - community shuttle bus for Totnes and surrounding villages.
Caring Town - a network of health & wellbeing organisations in Totnes
Chagfood Community Market Garden - community supported agriculture project supplying seasonable, ecologically grown veg to the Chagford area.
Devon Community Composting Network - DCCN is involved primarily with helping schools to compost food waste, as well as supporting a revival in community composting
E-co Cars - car share club in Totnes
Embercombe - runs experiential programmes for leadership, including the Journey.
Encounters Arts - based in Totnes, Encounters specialise in designing participatory arts projects & interventions that inspire creativity, dialogue & exchange between people of all ages & cultures.
Foxhole Community Garden - 0.7 acre community garden next to School Farm in Dartington offering accesible courses and events for children and adults.
The Hillyfield - woodland farm on the edge of Dartmoor, offering activities all centred around caring for the land, restoring the ancient woodland, and providing opportunities for you to get involved.
Jamming Station - a young musicians collection offering weekly sessions, workshops and opportunities to gig in the SW, for 13-21-year-olds meet regularly to share, support and inspire each other. Supporting young musicians and songwriters to develop their own sound and to challenge themselves creatively.
The Kitchen Table - Totnes caterers who provide delicious food using local, seasonal and organic ingredients
The Land Magazine - a magazine covering issues relating to land rights, rural life, agriculture, sustainable development and land access
Landmatters Permaculture Community - an inspiring intentional community demonstrating low-impact living in action, at Blackawton.
Network of Wellbeing - check out the Share Shed - A Library of Things, and seed grants for local wellbeing projects.
Orchard Link - a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation of enthusiasts in south Devon concerned about the rapid decline of traditional orchards
Proper Job recycling centre - Chagford - one of the first community recycling centres, which saves useful things from going to landfill; upcycling, recycling, and skill-sharing, with a community cafe and wholefoods store
Proud2Be - a social enterprise which supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, questioning, intersex &/or asexual+ (LGBTQIA+) in the wider Totnes area, and organisers of the fantastic Totnes Pride
Reconnect magazine - a free regional magazine for all things alternative in our area
REconomy Centre - part of TTT, the REconomy Centre Totnes is an exciting resource supporting the development of our local economy. It's a 'drop-in' incubator, a workplace for start-ups, and a meeting place for community groups interested in supporting new economic models.
The ReStore, Dartington - combining the skills of volunteers and local upcycling artists to Rediscover, Recreate & Rejuvenate items of donated furniture and furnishings, which may otherwise go to waste
School Farm CSA - an organic, no-dig farm in Dartington, which we're proud to have affiliated with TTT. The farm is supported by members (who receive weekly organic veggie boxes) and volunteers and runs a range of courses in horticulture.
Schumacher College - an international centre for nature-based education, personal transformation and collective action, based in Dartington.
Sharpham Trust - a local education and conservation charity, offering innovative, creative and practical programmes for adults, young people, children and families. Volunteer or attend an event.
The Apricot Centre - Huxhams Cross Biodynamic Farm and wellbeing centre, offering veg boxes, volunteering days and courses
Totnes Caring - help elderly and disadvantaged people in and around Totnes
Totnes Cinema - restoring the Romany cinema in Totnes.
