I am visiting Totnes - can I meet people from Transition Town Totnes?
-
I am doing research about Transition and would like to speak to people involved with Transition Town Totnes.
One of the best ways to drop-in can be to plan your visit to coincide with one of our events - take a look at our Transition Town Totnes events calendar. For information about Transition Town Totnes please see our resources page and explore our website, where you’ll find a wealth of information about past and current activities.
As we have our hands full, delivering projects locally, we are unable to meet with visitors or researchers or answer general inquiries or research questions. We are a small, grassroots charity - majority volunteers - with a tiny staff team of 3 very part time staff who’s time is entirely occupied supporting volunteer led projects.
If you have a particular interest in a particular project, you can find more information about our projects under the Groups & Projects drop down menu above. Contact details for group / project coordinators are on their pages and you can contact them directly, but please remember that they are all volunteers and have jobs, families and commitments that may mean they cannot respond.
And don't forget there are Transition groups all over the UK and worldwide with lots of creativity and ideas in practice. You can get the details of initiatives around the world from the Initiatives Directory on the Transition Network website.
For information about the wider Transition movement and Transition in general, please contact Transition Network. Transition Network is here to help connect communities, inspire new ideas and expand and support the Transition activities all over the world and their website contains lots of resources including an Essential Guide to Doing Transition, and they also offer training.
Please note if you are looking to speak to Rob Hopkins, he works for the Transition Network, not Transition Town Totnes. Please contact Transition Network directly.
I am a journalist / photographer / film maker and would like to do a story on Transition
If you are contacting us from a local press outfit based in the South West of England, please email comms@transitiontowntotnes.org. We are sorry but do not have a professional communications team and we simply do not have capacity to respond to any other press inquiries.
For inquiries about the Transition movement and Transition in general, please contact Transition Network or for details of initiatives around the world see the Initiatives Directory on the Transition Network website
Please note if you are looking to interview Rob Hopkins, he works for the Transition Network, not Transition Town Totnes. Please contact Transition Network directly.
I live locally and am looking to get in touch about a TTT initiative or to find out more about TTT
Please see our contact page for details about how to get in touch. Please note that it may take a little while for us to be able to respond to your enquiry, as we don't have a fully staffed office.
I'd like to volunteer, how can I get involved?
Transition Town Totnes is largely volunteer led and we welcome new volunteers. Please see the get involved or volunteering pages.
I would like to do an internship with TTT
Currently we do not have any internship opportunities in the central TTT office but if you have a particular interest in a particular project, please see the ‘Groups and Projects’ drop down menu for more details. Contact details for group / project coordinators are on their pages and you can contact them directly, but please remember that they are all volunteers and have jobs, families and commitments that may mean they cannot respond.
If you are interested in doing an internship with the Transition movement in general, there are Transition groups all over the UK and the world. I am looking for somewhere to stay in Totnes
There are many great places to stay in and around Totnes, which you can find details for on the Visit Totnes website.
If you'd like to stay in an eco B&B with someone involved in Transition Town Totnes then we'd recommend Living Lightly B&B. Holly Tiffen has worked and volunteered for Transition Town Totnes for over 14 years, she offers a unique stay in Totnes. Her B&B encourages and demonstrates ways of living with minimal environmental impact. Information about the measures she has taken to reduce her living impact are outlined in the following document for inspiration: 'Why Living Lightly?'. Transition Town Totnes receives 5% from all bookings that come from people visiting Totnes to discover more about our work. For more information please get in touch with her: hollytiffen@yahoo.co.uk 07857 811 994
Please note that unfortunately we can't offer accommodation in exchange for volunteering, but recommend that if you are interested in this that you check the WWOOF UK and Help Exchange websites. Rental accommodation in Totnes can be found via this local Facebook group and websites such as Spareroom and Gumtree.
