Earlier this year, we announced that we’re really happy to have received grants from the Transition: Bounce Forward project, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and distributed by Transition Network.
This funding has enabled us to explore the local issues raised back in 2018, when Totnes Town Council Declared a Climate & Ecological Emergency. Following this, in 2019, we joined up with partners to hold a meeting that posed the question; ‘Totnes Declares a Climate Emergency: What Next?’. The outcomes of this meeting are now informing how we address this question.
In the past few months, we’ve recruited a group of local volunteers to act as champions for some of the causes that concern them the most. A series of meetings has led to some positive collaborations and ideas for projects to take forward.
The outcomes are as yet unknown but the seeds are being planted for new shoots to emerge, while existing projects are getting a new lease of life with a renewed interest and support for some of the projects initiated by Transition Town Totnes, including the award-winning Transition Streets. If you follow us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, you’ll see more updates about how this project is unfolding over the coming weeks and months.
