On the 21st March, there was a public meeting of Inner Transition called Heart and Soul Renewal. We came together to celebrate the Equinox and full moon, to honour what we have done together so far, to reflect on current changes and dream into what may be calling us forward. Poems and moments of stillness were woven throughout, holding the conversation and listening within the sacred. The meeting was called by the Pulse group, a small group of people who organise the offerings of Inner Transition.
We spoke of the origins of Inner Transition, originally called “Heart and Soul”, arising out of a recognition of the need for outer activism and inner work to partner each other in balance. Inner Transition and Pulse hold the 'heart and the hearth' of TTT, within the larger context of those involved in creating sustainable ways of living that honour all of life.
We were delighted that many who have previously been involved were there when we did a brief celebratory review of previous projects – including Active Hope groups, mentoring, Earth Stories and “Brexit Speed Dating”.
We then named many of the changes taking place in the field of TTT, the UK, and the global escalating climate crisis. These included increases in inequality, extinction of species, the pain of children and young people, Extinction Rebellion and global movements for change. In the circle, we began to explore our responses. Deepening our reflections together we also touched on the “wisdom medicine” that was being spoken in the circle and began dreaming individually and together into what is needed, and yet to come.
Themes that emerged included our deep pain and grief about what is happening in the world around us, and the power of and hunger for truth. Ideas for moving forward included a mental health cafe, social and environmental prescribing, developing collective vision boards that include the whole world, supporting young people, regular truth mandalas, listening deeply, gratitude to the earth.
We put out an invitation to join the Pulse group. With the changing shapes of lives, we have recently said farewell to some of our key members, and it's a time of renewal for us. We were pleased to have a number of people come forward. If you were unable to attend the public meeting on 21 March, and feel called to join us, we are holding a special meeting for those interested in becoming part of the Pulse Group.
