We're 10 Years Old!
We are launching a four month programme of celebratory events to mark 10 years of grassroots action on local food, eco-building, energy, the local economy, inner reflection and the arts, which has put Totnes on the map as one of the world’s most talked about Transition communities.
Join Us for the Celebratory Party...
The party starts on Thursday March 9th at the Totnes Civic Hall at 6.45pm and the whole town is invited! The evening will feature music, words, films, wine, beer, laughter and maybe tears, as we mark not only our 10th anniversary celebration, but also the launch of TTT’s third film festival.
A Night of Poetry, Music, Film and Fantastic Speakers...
The night will be hosted by poet Matt Harvey and will feature songs from acclaimed a capella choir Glorious Chorus and singer song writer Ros Brady, a deep ecologist who has written songs from interviews with top environmental thinkers such as Patrick Holden, Mary Colwell, Jonathon Porrit and Vandana Shiva. We will take a glance at our past, present and future with Rob Hopkins and others, enjoy film shorts from across the 10 years, have a sneak preview of film trailers from the film festival programme and enjoy local beer and wine from the bar. Doors will open at 6.45 and the performances will start at 7pm sharp.
We'd Love You to Celebrate with Us
We want the people of Totnes to celebrate with us; it’s the people of this town that have done all the hard work over the last 10 years, putting us on the map as the world’s first Transition Town, which continues to act as a source of inspiration to communities around the world, and 10 years later is still creating and innovating a wide range of projects and initiatives that benefit local people. We wouldn’t have achieved any of this without the ongoing support and involvement of our local volunteers - our celebration is your celebration.
And the Party is FREE!
The launch party is a free event, but donations will be gratefully received to help keep the work flowing. Booking is not necessary. We are very grateful to the Big Lottery Fund for supporting us with costs for this series of events.
And This is Just the Start - We've A Whole Host of Other Celebration Events!
From Cycling History Tours, to Incredible Edible Family Fun Days, to Earth Celebration Stories and a celebration Tea Party, we have a plethora of events to intrigue and delight and we'd love you to come along.
