A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday to celebrate local food, to the dedicated volunteers who made the event happen, and to our fantastic local food producers!
- Harpist Misu
- Face painting by Sophia
- Mary's local tea stall
- Sima of the Kitchen Table talked about the challenges for caterers seeking to use local produce
- New Lion Brewery launched Local Hero, a beer brewed from local grain and hops
Around 2,000 people visited Vire Island, enjoying music, talks, apple pressing, a Transition food tour of Totnes, as well as hot food, herb teas, and local produce.
Congratulations to Lowenna who won the hamper of local produce!
The Forking Local Food Festival was organised by Totnes10, an initiative to get people to switch just 10% of their weekly food spend from national chains to local producers & retailers. If we all did this, it could bring up to £2,500,000 to our local economy! Visit their website to take the 10% pledge.
