This year’s Totnes & District Open Eco-Homes weekend will be held October 14th-16th, and we are looking for people who would like to inspire others by opening their doors to show off their domestic eco-features. Homes featured in the past range from the small, to off-grid, to renovated older properties, high-spec new builds and eco-communities, demonstrating a range of ways to lower your home’s environmental impact; from simple measures like draught-busting and secondary glazing, to the use of natural materials, or cutting edge technologies, or considering the consumption of water, waste, food and transport too.
Homes are opened to suit the owner, so you could do one tour or a drop-in session for a few hours, or open for one or two days, or several tours over the weekend. This year a Friday evening session has been added to the programme. Properties are far afield as Dittisham and Ilsington have been featured, and Bob the Bus trips from Totnes can be arranged to more remote locations.
If you’re interested in opening your home and would like to find out more, please contact Mary Popham on marypopham@btinternet.com, 01803 867358, or 07815 799996. Our deadline is Monday August 15th.
