This year's Open Eco-Homes weekend will be on October 3rd and 4th, with the Eco-Homes Fair the following weekend on Saturday 10th.
The programme for the open eco-homes weekend is now finalised- 18 exciting homes and project to visit from homes where low cost measures such as draught-proofing and under-floor insulation have reduced bills to new build homes with an emphasis on local natural materials
From strawbale homes to low impact off grid dwellings, renovated historic properties, and retrofitted post-war homes, there will be an abundance of inspiration!
This year the event is also featuring several renewable energy installations, including the South Brent community wind turbine, the Totnes weir hydro project and the new field solar and bio-mass boiler at Dartington Hall.
For most of the featured homes and projects there is no need to book- just check the opening arrangements and turn up! The only exceptions are the tours of the Dartington renewable installations and the Sunday Bob the Bus tour to a restored medieval Dartmoor home and an community self-build project. Full details about how to book in programme. Copies of the programme can be obtained from the Totnes Information Centre.
N.B. Dartington Trust will now only be running one tour of their renewables energy installations at 10am. Please contact the booking office-01803 847017- to book.
The open homes weekend is then followed on Saturday 10th October by an Eco-Homes Fair - from 10am to 3pm - in Totnes Civic Hall, showcasing suppliers of eco-friendly goods and services, plus home energy installers and eco-builders. Tea, cake, children’s activities and inspiring seminar speakers will also feature.
