February 6 and February 7, Dartington Hall
Free!
We invite you to attend this exciting conference showcasing alternatives to the conventional property developer-led initiatives in the delivery of appropriate and affordable housing. Participants will be those involved in the Neighbourhood Planning process and professionals working towards the delivery of affordable, sustainable and innovative housing as well as landowners facing the challenge of estate/land viability and rural sustainability/regeneration.
Future Homes includes speakers from the Atmos project, The Living Villages Trust, The Joseph Rowntree Foundation, The Land Society, ‘self builders’, passivhaus experts, as well as representatives from completed Neighbourhood Plans.
Friday the 6th will commence with a buffet breakfast, providing a chance to network with fellow participants and continues throughout the day with a programme of speakers in the Great Hall at Dartington Hall. A soup and fruit lunch will be provided in the Higher Close Refectory which will house an exhibition area for the conference.
On Saturday 7th workshops and presentations will be located in different spaces around Dartington Hall. There will be the opportunity to discuss relevant application of many of the ideas presented on the Friday, to talk with speakers in smaller groups and extend the debate. We will cover a range of possibilities, including Self Build - in its many varieties, shared homes and co-housing and financial opportunities/constraints for different models of housing provision.
Our aim is to inspire those involved in Neighbourhood Planning processes throughout Devon and Cornwall; communities, councillors, planners, architects and land owners.
To encourage and enable participation, the conference will be free to attend. However it is not without costs which are being shared between Dartington Hall Trust and Dartington Parish Council. To offset some of these costs donations will be requested on the day and we ask delegates to note the no-show fee of £25 if you don’t cancel your place more than 36 hours in advance.
Booking your free place is essential. You can do that by clicking here, or by phoning the Dartington Box Office on 01803 847070.
Please book early – we know that demand for places is very high!
