Local residents are taking a stand to bend the course of history. We’re coming together to call for the world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet; a world safe from the ravages of climate change; a world with good jobs, clean air and water, and healthy communities. A 100% clean world!
WHAT: Rally in the heart of Totnes, where we can encourage people to sign Avaaz’s petition and take photos, for local press and to upload to the Avaaz website. They will be screened on billboards in New York, host city for the UN emergency talks starting on Tuesday
WHEN: Sunday September 21st at 12 noon
WHERE: Civic Hall ramp, Civic Square
WHO: You! In company with Friends of the Earth, 38 Degrees, Avaaz, Oxfam, WWF and your community
Please wear or bring something green, and if anyone has any face paints...
Our rally will start at noon and last about an hour. Afterward there will be the chance to join in the celebrations of the International Day of Peace - which is coinciding - up at the Rotherfold, where the Bull is hosting a community event with DJ and live music from 1-10pm.
If you live in Ashburton and can't get to Totnes, there will be a vigil between 3-5pm at Cleder Place, North Street.
Thank you to Andy and his group from Buckfastleigh, who will be cycling to join us.
If you haven’t already, please sign the Avaaz petition and pass it on - over 1.7 million signatures already.
The film Disruption documents the run up to the talks and was screened in Ashburton this week. You can watch it online.
We hope to see you Sunday. Please share this with your networks.
