The TTT PV referral scheme is still operational!
Following a tender exercise involving several local PV installers, Transition Town Totnes has partnered with Totnes Solar on its new Solar PV offer. Under the project TTT refers interested households or businesses to Totnes Solar, an experienced installer with an excellent local reputation, for a free, no-obligation quote. Totnes Solar will arrange to visit to survey and discuss the householder’s requirements with them, before quoting at the discounted price agreed with TTT. Following any installations under the scheme the householder concerned will receive ‘cashback’ of 20 Totnes pounds to spend locally and TTT will receive a small referral fee to support its energy saving work.
There are a range of PV arrays available under the scheme, from 1.2 to 3.84 KWp for domestic households and up to 50KWp for businesses . The smallest system costs a little over £3000 and is suitable for small roofs. As well as satisfaction of generating their own electricity from a renewable source, householders can still expect a good return on their financial investment. With the feed-in tariff currently at 14.9/kWh for domestic installations the returns are usually over 6% , with higher returns on larger installations. Tariffs are reviewed every 3 months, but once you are on a tariff, you will stay on that for the next 20 years.
Currently it is also possible to offer participating households a charging point for an electric car through a government backed scheme.
