The South West Devon Community Energy Partnership has arranged a day’s training with the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) for energy 'champions' , to enable them to offer basic energy efficiency advice within their communities. This advice could be delivered via promotional stalls, energy shops/surgeries, talks to community groups , participation in the CARD project etc (see separate post).
The training will be 1 day long (9.30-4.30) and will cover the following areas;
- why we need to save energy and the benefits of doing so, intro to fuel poverty
- saving energy around the home (using heating controls effectively, insulation, behavioural measures, condensation and damp).
- benefits of changing suppliers, reading meters and understanding energy bills
- intro to green deal process and ECO i.e. what help is out there for people, where to go for further advice
The Devon Association for Renewable Energy (DARE ) are likely to be able to offer some follow-up training in renewables and we are investigating whether we can possible provide some further, more detailed, training, for the those that want it.
The training is in Newton Abbot at Forde House (Teignbridge District Council Offices) on Monday 9th or 10th Tuesday Dec 2013. There is one place left for a TTT volunteer who can make a minimum commitment to getting involved with events/ projects.
