Transition Streets
Transition Streets (formerly known as the Transition Together) enables you to take a number of effective, practical,
money and energy-saving steps together with a group of neighbours, your friends or your family.
Over 65 groups and 550 households in Totnes and Dartington have joined the project and worked through the 7
session programme round at each other's houses in their local neighbourhood. Participating households save, on
average, about £570 per year off their household bills and around 1.3 tonnes of CO2.
Be part of a growing number of neighbourhoods across the Town and District that are embarking on their Transition
journey together.
‘Best thing that has happened to us since we moved in 1974!’
‘It’s not about whipping yourself because you’re not green enough, it’s just about seeing how you can change your
life.’
How it Works
Groups of friends or neighbours get together every few weeks with a practical workbook to make easy changes to
how they use energy, water, food, packaging and transport. It’s easier to make changes with the support of your
friends.
How to Get Started
Just ask six to eight neighbours and friends who live near you if they’d like to form a Transition Streets group.
Register with us and we’ll give you the workbooks and a facilitator to get you started.
