Food Mapping Project

After a successful launch on 19th January, a very successful public workshop was held at the end of February. Many local people attended and gave their veiws on the social, economic and environmental benefits of local food as well as indicated what they liked about local food in the area as well as changes they'd like to see. A hamper of local food was raffled and there was a good representation of local business people as well as interested consumers. since nearly 100 consumers have been surveyed, most local shopkeepers who stock local foods and we are now in the last stage of the survey process, interviewing local suppliers.

Report writing

The next stage of the process is to compile a report, in partnership with Campaign for the Protection of Rural England which will identify issues locally as well as offering reccomendations for national policy changes to support the development of local food systems.

Future developments

The survey work undertaken in Totnes has offered the opportunity for CPRE to revise and develop the survey tools to improve them and ta similar process is now beginning in St. Austell. Please contact Jenny Gellatly on 07814096835 if you are interested in supporting her work here.
