"The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating - first in mind and will, next in activity. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them changes both the maker and the destination."  John Schaar.

Its a cliche to say young people are the future but Transition cannot happen without greater participation from the young people of Totnes and District.   To actually see a low-carbon, resilient 'post Transition' world may not be a realistic expectation for many people involved in TTT.  So what do the people who will be running country in 2030-2050 think of their future?  What do they want it to look like?

The answers to these questions are packed with adventure and opportunities.  Through Transition young people are taking ownership of their lives and destinies.  Young people across Totnes and District have been creating new stories about the world they want to live in and care for.

The Transition youth scene kicked off with a noisy bang in 2007 with the International Youth Music Festival, working in partnership with the Totnes School of English, Bowden House Community, Pulse Youth Group, Belstone Youth Group and Base Youth Eco-Arts.

Since then, approximately 1000 young people have taken part in our Transition Tales project, through KEVICCS and two local primary schools.  We have hosted international youth groups on experiential residential programmes and have delivered sessions for the Totnes School of English.  The Totnes Transition Tales team now provides training for teachers locally and nationally.

We are also in the process of setting up a young person-led Transition group which will be working with schools across Totnes and District.  This is being coordinated by our Education Group.

But there is a lot more we need to be doing.  Please contact us with your ideas, suggestions and offers to be involved in this great adventure of shaping our future.

Some ways we work with Schools and FE.
