Why Transition?

Printer-friendly versionPDF version

What it will mean for you when oil and other fossil fuels become much more expensive?

What impact do you think climate change might have?

Does the state of the economy worry you?

Do you ever wonder what life will be like when today’s children grow up?

Transition is about responding to these questions in ways that make sense to ordinary people like you and me.

There are several converging issues that have given rise to the Transition idea - most notably peak oil, climate change and economic insecurity.   You can use these pages to get a quick overview of these key issues and understand why resilience is fundamental to our ability to respond to any of them.    You are invited to ask your self 'where are we going?' by considering your own vision of the future and exploring some possible future scenarios.

In order to do this, this section has been laid with the following pages:

What is Transition?

What is Peak Oil?

What is Climate Change?

What Economic Crisis?

What is Resilience?

Where are we going?
