Since 2007 there has been a paid project admin coordinator supporting the project, initially funded through a local donation and from April 2008 – April 2010 by grants from the Ashden Trust. Financially we are stretched to cover our core costs and we are in the process of implementing a strategy to ensure we become financially self-sustaining in three years.
Other funded roles have included Project Support (£10,000 from Polden-Puckham), Transition Together (£20,000 from Big Green Challenge plus £10,000 from Gulbenkian), Energy Descent Action Plan (£39,000 from Esme Fairburn and £5,000 from APE), funding support (local donation).
In 2010 we won a significant award of £625,000 from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (UK Government) as part of the Low Carbon Communities Challenge. This financed the Transition Streets project, which has resulted in further paid roles and a dramatic increase in community engagement.

Artists' Project Earth for contributing to the EDP project costs
Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for their support of the Transition Teams / Home Teams project.
Department of Energy and Climate Change for Transition Streets.
Esmee Fairbairn Foundation for funding a key central role and the EDP co-ordinator role.

Polden-Puckham Charitable Foundation for funding a project support role to help enable all TTT projects especially those coming out of the Energy Descent Pathways project.
Sky Chapman, a local resident, for funding many essential core costs.
The Ashden Trust for their contribution to our essential core costs.
The Funding Network for their support for our Transiton Tales project.
Please note that if you are not from Totnes, and are considering contacting these same funders to help with your own transition efforts, then first of all read the guidelines on the Transition Network funding forum.
There are a growing number of people who support us by donating regularly e.g. by direct debit, who are not listed here, but who provide monthly stability and support. This means the ability to plan ahead, knowing that we can rely on having a central office to support us. Thank you.
